Heartfelt Sympathy – Fred Schossow

Fred Schossow, 76, Leonard, ND died on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home.

He was born on June 13, 1934 in Enderlin, ND to Frederick and Rose (Erbstoesser) Schossow. He grew up near Chaffee, ND and graduated from high school there. He served in the US Navy and returned to work in the construction trade. Fred married Eileen Winters on June 2, 1962 at Frankville, Iowa. They made their home in Minneapolis, MN where Fred worked for the City of Minneapolis as a heavy equipment operator. In 1976, they moved to Maple Grove, MN. He also served in the US Navy and Air Force Reserves. After retirement in 1994, they moved to Leonard, ND. He built a shop called the "Puttsin Palace" where he spent countless hours creating treasured wooden heirlooms.

He was an active member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Leonard; two children, SanDee (Mark) Fleek of Elk River, MN and Frederick "Dan" (JoAnn) Schossow of Zimmerman, MN; three grandchildren, Christopher, Carissa & Aurora; great grandson, Braden; sister, Ina Kempel of Chaffee, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by parents; brothers-in-law, Ferd Kempel and LeRoy Winters; and niece and nephew.

Visitation: Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 3 to 5 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM at West Funeral Home, Casselton.

Funeral: Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Leonard.

Burial: Watson Cemetery, Leonard.

Heartfelt Sympathy - Brenda Watt

Brenda Watt, 69, Chaffee, ND, died on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo, ND, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Brenda Joyce Watt was born on January 8, 1942 in Fargo, ND to Alan and Edna (Thoreson) Keene. She grew up in Enderlin, ND and graduated from high school there.

Brenda was united in marriage to Donald Allan Watt on October 24, 1959 in Enderlin, ND. They made their home on the family farm near Chaffee where they farmed for many years. She was active with the farm, cooking for the help and keeping the books.

Brenda and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the US and abroad and spent their winters at their home in Sedona, AZ. She enjoyed the Friday Night Group there. Don passed away on June 17, 2007.

Brenda's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening and flowers and was known to be welcoming to stray animals especially cats. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed her get-togethers with the monthly Birthday Club.

She is survived by three children, Darcy Watt, Fargo, Dana (Dale) Sprunk, Chaffee, Jon (Toni) Watt, Casselton, ND; five grandchildren, Logan and Whitney Sprunk, Catherine Bauske, Alec and Sami Watt; and a sister, Gerry (Larry) Brown, Larimore, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters, Layle and Dyann; and husband, Don.

Visitation: Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in the West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Memorial Service: Friday at 10:30 AM in St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Leonard, ND.

Final Resting Place: Watson Cemetery, rural Leonard, ND.

Special thanks to Sanford Palliative Care, Roger Maris Cancer Center and Sheyenne Crossings for the care and comfort extended. Memorials are preferred to Watson Cemetery or Roger Maris Cancer Center.
